Today (February 15, 2014) is a day after Valentine day. Well, it is not to surprise to hear that a few days after valentine will be a day/s when many people are likely discuss issues whichever is essentially related to the life of
young people. However, I don’t really expected to get such opportunity to discuss with someone else. It is simply because today is a busy day for me, I have to attend almost a whole day class
lecture at Myanmar Environment Institute. Therefore, I wake up in morning around six
o’clock and have breakfast, then took my cloths and books, thereby walk on foot for almost 10 minutes from my house to 46 point, North Dagon, where I hired a Taxi
to take me to Myanmar Environment Institute at Bahan Township, Yangon.
Completely wholesome! How fortunate it is, Taxi driver whom I met is very
friendly and pleasant to be with. He is about 35 year’s old. He is really amiable and approachable person. We, on our way towards Bahan, saw an old man, probably about 60 years old, waiting taxi beside the main road and then he came along with us. In this way, these three men, of us, traveled together till we reach Bahan township were we were supposed to depart.
Unexpectedly, that is the moment we started to discuss/speak about the way of
life of young people in Myanmar. This is a day after Valentine day. In 2013,
one of Newspapers reported that Condom is the best seller in one week during
Valentine day. This year, what do you think will be the best seller? It is reported by a Newspaper
during Valentine week of this year that most of the Hotels are booked in
advance before Valentine day by young people, most of them are said to be students. How do you think about this! What is the business of students! I don't think that writing this article is not my business. I
think again and again! This is the day after Valentine! It could be probably true to say that this is a certain indication of how much the life of young people in Myanmar is corrupted. With regard to this issue, an old man who is traveling together with us said that 'today young boys and girls life in Myanmar is morally corrupted' and he continue
saying that ‘they do not know how much they are important for building peaceful
and modern democratic nation, Myanmar, but it is incredibly infuriating and frustrating to remind ourselves that they know three things familiarly,
1. ‘To
go to Massage almost every night (I neither understand nor know what Massage business is
really like in Myanmar).
2. ‘To
go to KTV’ and spent their night there.
3. The
young people are not discipline, they don’t care the City and their
environment, they just throw plastic and paper simply anywhere, and they don’t
know that they should throw/put it in dust pin. (Actually dust pin is provided
in almost every important area in the City, Yangon by YCDC).
The discussion is going on…and … on. This is a day after
Valentine! I find it is really exciting, interesting and amazing discussion. As the
discussing is continued; we automatically came to examine the reasons for why these things are
happening in the life of young people, especially in Myanmar. Though I said
this is a discussion, I just participated only as a listener to them; I am
only passive participant in this discussion. However, when we come to examining the
reasons, I said to myself that the life of many young peoples in Myanmar could
possibly be corrupted for the following reasons:
1. Living under poverty line could results in moral corruption. Poverty, in fact, is the cause of causes.
2. Lack
or under-finance of government to provide proper basic education her citizens. Inability or unwillingness of governments to provide proper basic education?
3. Lack
of freedom of organization and movement (Civil society is equally important like Government for sustainable society).
5. Lack
of efforts of religious communities in providing good counseling and education
to children and young?
6. Lack
of effective implementation of public policy by government?
Education is the heart and the beginning of development;
wholeness and well-being of all. I guess! This is a day after Valentine! I know
at this time, a day after valentine, providing proper education to the citizens
is the most essential tool for building peaceful, prosperous and beautiful
nation. It is important for the government to make the citizen to realize the
important of education and widely open the door to education in every possibly
way. The government may give freedom of education for everyone but it is not
enough. The nation (government) has to have willingness to provide proper
inter-disciplinary education at primary, high school and university level at
the lowest cost for her citizens. The nation has to realized that her life is
depends on education and only education can make her beautiful, bountiful and
peaceful. I dream! This is a day after Valentine!

The influence of western lifestyle and the negative impact of globalization could also be another reasons. Above all, lack of self-realization is the main reason for moral perversion. Anyway, gud post !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi, Big Brother, it is really exiting to hear from you. I opine, It is not unacceptable thing that if a nation could provide good education to her people, then it is likely that the impact of western lifestyles, technology and globalization wouldn't have much problem for us. Another factor, self-realization has to come to one's life through education (it might be either religious or secular education) but for me education is everything. Everything that we need.
